I’m mac guy. I work on a mac. I play on a mac. I like mac and cheese. I even liked the mac spots with Justin Long and the PC guy–I’m just kidding, John Hodgman. Love The Areas of my Expertise by the way. “I’ve been made into a stereotype.” The honesty of the line is perfect and when accompanied with quirky simple music, it takes away the insulting tone of being a PC person isn’t cool that the mac spots have established. And of course using a simple line, “I’m a PC”, the highest celebrity endorsements you can hire, and beautiful scenery with pretty people you can find can always help. They hit a lot of audiences with this one spot. People you want to relate to. People that get stuff done. Not lazy charming young people right? PC people do stuff. We work. Keep your macs, young people. And I will. I will keep my mac.
Not a bad commercial at all. Looks great. Lots of build up with great special effects. But the thing I really think is smart about this spot is the timing of the creative idea. Weather is a very popular thing right now. With hurricanes, floods, damage, tornados, rain, and what ever the world throws at us, people love weather. So this 60 second reminder actually makes sense and could be placed during various news reports, documentary coverage, or on the weather channel.
“Despite growing up in a family of sports enthusiasts, Nicola had no designs on becoming a professional athlete. Yet as she found herself wanting to push her physical limits, she fell in love with the triathlon. To Nicola, the harder the race, the bigger the rush. This mentality has served her well as she has succeeded in becoming Junior European Champion, Junior World Champion, 3rd in the Elite European Championship, and is now ranked 6th in the world. If the physical exhaustion of being a professional triathlete ever starts to feel too easy, she has a second career as a law student to fall back on.” – NikeWomen.com
Maria Sharapova’s Story
“”They” love her one day and hate her the next. Glorify her, then vilify her. Yet despite the naysayers, critics and cynics, Maria thrives. 18 WTA and three Grand Slam titles later, she continues to be rewarded for listening to no one but herself.” – NikeWomen.com
Simona La Mantia’s Story
“Only after a schoolyard race did Simona start to see the value of her too-long legs. It sparked a new interest in the track where her parents trained and she soon discovered a passion for jumping. She went on to compete as a triple jumper in the Olympic Games in 2004, the World Championships in 2005, the National Championships in 2006, and she’s now training to qualify for Beijing.” -NikeWomen.com
This is one of the better Nike campaigns I’ve seen. These very well produced animated spots have great great stories to go with them. The empowering message of “here I am” has the raw attitude needed to push women to train harder and be proud of who they are so they can scream at the world, “here I am!”
Really well designed website to go with it as well. Just click the pic below:
Very young, cool Norwegian spot for a scratch off lottery ticket. The four leaf clover looks fantastic, and they had an excellent DP and Art Director on these shoots. SMHD* spots are taking over our world, but I don’t mind.
